Work on IRP 23:
Lease Lighting Standards was revived in
December 2009. A draft of IRP 23 is now ready for industry
review.
Audience: The intended
audience for Draft IRP 23 is both lease site operating companies as
well as petroleum drilling and petroleum service contractors who
carry out work on lease sites.
Focus and Scope: IRP 23 is
designed to provide lease lighting recommendations for three basic
lease site scenarios: night time rig mobilization and
demobilization, ancillary drilling activities, and any on site
servicing operations.
Draft IRP 23 has focused on
lighting responsibilities and lighting levels at it pertains to
various operations. It has avoided delving into technical lighting
requirements or matters pertaining to electric codes. It has also
excluded the rig floor from its
considerations.
