Guides to Safe Work (GTSWs)
A GTSW may be in booklet or flip guide form, and usually focuses on
a valuable and relevant safety topic that may not be appropriate as
an Industry Recommended Practice (IRP).
A GTSW is intended to contribute directly to the reduction of
injuries and incidents that occur among workers in the Canadian oil
and gas Industry. To date, there are three GTSW - Slips, Trips and
Falls (2005), Fatigue Management (2006), and Open Hole Guidelines
(2006).
Guidelines and Best Practices
In this section you will find guides and best practices developed
by the petroleum industry for the petroleum industry. Please
feel free to use them and adapt them for your particular company
needs.
Industry Recommended Practices (IRPs)
Enform plays a vital role as the steward of Industry Recommended
Practices (IRPs). An IRP is a set of best practices and guidelines
prepared by knowledgeable and experienced industry and government
personnel. IRPs are intended to provide management and operators in
the Canadian oil and gas industry with advice on relevant topics.
The practices set out in IRPs form the basis for minimum standards
for the industry. It is important to note that IRPs are not
regulations. When there is an inconsistency or conflict with any
applicable legislative requirement, the legislative requirement
prevails.
